Virtually all of our basic needs – food, shelter, transportation, and a wide range of other services – are provided by people in the working trades. Our jobs are meaningful and we take pride in getting things done. Unfortunately, over the last several decades there has been a steady decline in our status and our wages. Because we are silent, our work often is taken for granted or undervalued by the public. In this age of sound bites and Madison Avenue glitz, just doing our jobs isn't enough. We need to make ourselves heard. We need to share our concerns, our practical wisdom, and the satisfaction that comes from putting in a hard day's work. We need to pass on these values...
