Δε θα ξανάρθω ποτέ, μ' ακούς; Θα κρύψω καλά τη θλίψη μου πίσω από γάζες και τσιρότα και θα ρίξω όλα τα τραγούδια που έχω γράψει για σένα μέσα στο καμίνι που αφήσαμε να καίει. "Θα πενθώ πάντα, μ'ακούς;" Σκεφτόμενος εκείνη την υπόσχεση που δεν κράτησες ποτέ, δε θα αντέχω και πάντα θα σ' αφήνω. Όσα έμαθα σιγά σιγά τα ξεμαθαίνω. Δε δίνω, σε κανέναν πια, μ' ακούς; Κι ατενίζω το πέλαγο, ψάχνω καράβια. Πόσα πλοία έχω χάσει, πόσα πλοία έχω κάψει; Χρόνια προσμένω τη στεριά να ζαλιστώ. Την επόμενη στεριά, μ' ακούς; Έτσι σαλπάρουν οι ψυχές, μην το ζορίζεις. Θα ανήκω πάντα στο επόμενο πλοίο. Κι εσύ επόμενο μου πλοίο να μ' ακούς, γιατί δε μπορείς να με πας εκεί που θέλω. Θα σε κάψω και σένα, θα σε χάσω και σένα, σίγουρα. Κι όταν θα λείψουν, τα επόμενα πλοία ή τα χρόνια, θα πάψω κι εγ...
