Less Than Zero | Zero means Zero Less Than Zero Zero means Zero ホーム Zero? カート・ヴォネガット 11 10 2009 カート・ヴォネガットが好きだ。 中学から高校へと進んで、私の生活から鮮やかな色彩が消え始めた頃、カート・ヴォネガットJrと、ビーチボーイズの「ペットサウンド」、「スマイリー・スマイル」に出会った。一方は厭世的な(でも確かなものをちらっと見かけた事がはっきりしている)白鳥の歌。一方は既に失われた無邪気さへの郷愁と現実逃避の甘いアマルガム。なんてみじめなティーンエイジャー。”So it goes”（そういうものだ）。 「猫のゆりかご」に登場するボコノン教の聖典はこんな言葉から始まる。 わたしがこれから語ろうとするさまざまな真実の事柄は、みんなまっ赤な嘘である。 ボコノン教徒としてのわたしの警告は、こうだ。 嘘の上にも有益な宗教は築ける。それがわからない人間には、この本はわからない。 わからなければそれでよい。 セカンドライフで遊び始めたとき、まだみっともないデフォルトのアバターのまま、メインランドのウェルカムエリアから恐る恐る歩き出したときに、派手な女性アバターに「Hi Zero,Welcome!」と声をかけられた。すごくうれしくなったその時、何故か思い出したのが「チャンピオンたちの朝食」や「ジェイルバード」だった（今でも人気の無いシムの裏通りを眺めている時にキルゴア・トラウトやエリオット・ローズウォーターがひょこひょこやって来そうな気がする）。 （後で知ったのだけれど、カートはセカンドライフで インタビューを受けている 。ちょっと素敵な事も言っているので要チェック） 「愛は負けても、親切は勝つ」 「ジェイルバード」でついに放たれたこの言葉。とても優しく、とても冷笑的で、とても重たい言葉。 LoveもPeaceも世間知らずの戯言に思える位まで、ヒトという動物のやらかす事に慣れてしまった今でも、この言葉は私を揺さぶる。 2007年4月、カート・ヴォネガットは死んだ。セカンドライフの中で私は小さなひなぎくを彼の写真に添えた。涙ではなく、プリムのひなぎくを。 いまでもIron Fistへいくと何か...
