In it a farmer surveys the field and guesses that an enemy has sown the weeds, and there’s caution about what to do next. But eventually the decision comes down to the workers. Leave the wheat and weeds to mingle until the harvest, lest a too-soon culling might damage the grain. That always seemed easy enough to accept, and like so many of my friends I put myself down as a sturdy stalk of wheat. Others may be weeds, but not me.
