Those machines whether steam or diesel powered have been lovingly restored and maintained and give great pleasure to hundreds of thousands of people each year. The majority of staff on heritage railways are unpaid volunteers supported by a smattering of paid employees and a have a passion as great or even greater than football fans or golf addicts.
