Open class is a chance for parents to sit in during a 40 minute period or lesson and look at what their child has been working on this year. It’s almost like open house back home. The teachers prepare fun and exciting lessons, decorate the halls with student work and help tidy up the school. Since schools here in Korea don’t hire staff to clean schools, students and teachers work together to scrub the place down. Yesterday each class was responsible for cleaning their classroom as well as the hallway area outside of the room. We swept the stairways, wiped down the windows and dusted off the shelves.
