Sebelum berlakunya rusuhan kaum paling dahsyat di Tanah Melayu pada 1969, bibit-bibit awal telahpun timbul di kawasan penguasaan majoriti masyarakat Cina di Pulau Pinang pada tahun 1967. 2. Kaum Cina Pulau Pinang sebelum itu telah pun kerap kali melakukan Hartal (protest besar-besaran) dengan paling signifikan memprotest Perlembagaan Persekutuan Malaya pada tahun 1947 yang mengandungi Kontrak Sosial melibatkan kelebihan orang Melayu di Tanah Melayu. 3. Malangnya 24 November 1967 satu rusuhan besar-besaran terjadi yang berlanjutan sehingga dua bulan kemudian berakhir pada bulan December 1967. 4.
