E’ il fato che ha deciso che dovevo essere raffigurato con il saio su una lastra di marmo rosso di Verona, con il viso e le mani scolpite in marmo bianco per accentuare la trasformazione del mio essere in un oggetto funebre. Io grande condottiero addestrato alle armi fin da piccolo, Io che ho comandato in battaglia molti cavalieri, abituato a cavalcare con pesanti corazze, maestro con la spada e la picca, avrei voluto essere raffigurato da morto in ben altra maniera, magari in un grande affresco che celebrasse le mie battaglie...
