Nici nu știu cât timp trecuse de când stăteam acolo în frig, pe bancă, urmărind marea și valurile ei agitate. Cred că trecuse ceva, căci nu-mi mai simțeam corpul de frig iar soarele mă lumina blând din spate și se revărsa cu blândețe pe nisipul încărcat cu scoici și melci, aflați în descompunere, în fața ochilor mei. Câțiva pescăruși se agitau gălăgioși deasupra întinderii de nisip, ca niște ulii pofticioși, luând în ciocuri scoicile și melcii proaspăt aduși la mal. Un deliciu bine-meritat spre sfârșitul rece de martie, cu plaje goale, abandonate total de turiști și de locuitorii din Constanța. Un cadru ideal, o liniște copleșitor de fireasca, o pauză de la gălăgia debusolanta în care ne-am obișnuit să trăim. M-am întrebat mereu: de ce vin oamenii să privească, în liniște, marea. Ce forță inexplicabilă îi aduce...
