Uncommon Sense November 7, 2024 // 0 Much of what I know about politics, faith, gender, race, class, criminal justice, and economics I learned within the last 15 years. And not primarily from TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, or MSNBC…but through a lot of hard work.  I read books. I researched. I facilitated webinars. I attended conferences. I sat on therapy couches. I ended relationships and made new ones. I went to church. I marched. I traveled.  All this took a lot of sacrifice, time, debt, and courage.  Most people can’t or won’t do this. Most people rely on “common sense” … and much of what I know today is not “common sense.” That gender is an artificial construct is not common sense. That same-sex attraction is innate is not common sense. Implicit bias in policing is not common sense. Patriarchy is not common sense.  God’s alignment with the poor and oppressed is not common ...
