I’m a philosopher and social theorist interested in neurodiversity, disability, psychiatry, medical humanities, social epistemology, critical theory, philosophy of science, and history of ideas. While my research cuts across disciplinary boundaries, most is focused on disability, neurodivergence, or madness. My research has been featured in Vice , Discover , and Forbes , among other places. My first book, Empire of Normality: Neurodiversity and Capitalism , was published in November 2023 by Pluto Press. It was recently shortlisted for the Bread and Roses Award. I’m currently the world’s first Assistant Professor in Critical Neurodiversity Studies, at the Institute for Medical Humanities at Durham University.
