Universitas ini tidak hanya besar dan luas, tapi juga sangat asri. Sebagian besar wilayahnya masih berupa hutan rimbun. Asri. Sejuk. Menenangkan. Jalur pejalan kaki dan jogging track dibuat di sekeliling kampus. Tapi begitu kita keluar dari area kampus, kita akan disuguhi situasi yang sangat berbeda. Itulah kota Depok. Jalan-jalan semrawut. Minim pohon. Berdebu. Trotoar nyaris tak ada. Kalau pun ada, penuh lobang. Masuk ke jalan-jalan kampung, keadaan semakin parah. Ada jalan di samping kali. Sebagiannya longsor. Nyaris tak ada perbaikan. Depok adalah kota yang memprihatinkan. Sudah tiga periode pemerintahan ditangani oleh kader-kader partai keadilan sejahtera.
