I had been to visit him on the Sunday after an urgent phone call where he wanted to see me. Thankfully a neighbour gave me a lift and we had the afternoon together, until he told me off for hanging around longer than anticipated and he sent me home to rest. He went to sleep that night and I was awoken about 12:30am to say he’d peacefully passed. It was a Monday Today is Monday, 5 years on and I still haven’t grasped this thing called grief. I don’t think you do, I think it is just something you hold onto as grief is simply a deep love you can not let go of. (my own conclusion there) I’d like to tell him that I’ve got a promotion at work. I’d like to tell him of the shitty things too, so I could cry, have a cuppa and feel better. I’d like to ask for forgiveness. But I can’t do that, not physically. ...
