Decorative tiles called ‘antefixes’ were used on the roof of the Roman legionary bathhouse in Exeter. Some, like this one from the collection of the Royal Albert Memorial Museum & Art Gallery (Exeter), showed images of human faces. Others were decorated with dolphins.
