It’s also formerly a part of Austria, because of course it was, hence the Austrian flag on the Maypole. A fair bit of the village is halfway up the side of the valley, as demonstrated by the town hall/fire station combination. There’s a long distance cycleway along the valley of the River Neckar from its source on the edge of the Black Forest to the river Rhine.
