Red Velvet Cake to ucierane ciasto o intensywnym czerwonym lub czerwono – brązowym kolorze, który zawdzięcza barwnikowi, przełożone białym kremem. Pochodzi z Ameryki, a pierwsze wzmianki na jego temat pojawiły się w książkach kucharskich z początku XX wieku. Występuje pod nazwą Red Velvet Cake oraz Waldorf Astoria Cake.
