Nur 34 Prozent der Deutschen sehen die Bundesrepublik noch in einer Führungsrolle in der EU. Das ist das Ergebnis einer repräsentativen Umfrage des Instituts Forsa im Auftrag des Vereins »Europäische Bewegung Deutschland«. Demnach verneinten 53 Prozent die Frage, ob Deutschland noch eine Führungsrolle in der EU einnimmt. Das Ergebnis dürfte auch als schlechtes Zeugnis für Bundeskanzler Olaf Scholz (SPD) zu verstehen sein, der den Ruf hat, sich wenig für Europa zu interessieren. Scholz’ Vorgängerin Angela Merkel (CDU) legte mehr Wert auf europäisch orientierte Politik. In der Umfrage sagen 80 Prozent, sie halten Deutschlands EU-Mitgliedschaft für wichtig.
