Madrid, 18 de julio de 2023.- Xeljanz® (citrato de tofacitinib) suma en España las indicaciones para el tratamiento de la espondilitis anquilosante y la artritis idiopática juvenil. Xeljanz® es un inhibidor oral de la Janus quinasa (JAK), que tiene como resultado el bloqueo de la producción de citoquinas que intervienen en el proceso de la inflamación de diversas enfermedades inflamatorias. Al reducir la inflamación, contribuye a la mejora de síntomas como el dolor, la hinchazón o la rigidez. “Es una gran noticia que tofacitinib esté también a disposición de los pacientes con espondilitis anquilosante y artritis idiopática juvenil en España”, ha manifestado el doctor Daniel Arumí, director médico de Inflamación e Inmunología de Pfizer España, aunque recuerda que “sigue habiendo una necesidad médica insatisfecha de nuevas terapias sistémicas orales eficaces que amplíen las opciones de tratamiento para que los niños logren y mantengan la remisión clínica”.
