振付と上演の機会を提供するプロジェクト『DANCE to the Future』の「Choreographic Group」を始めて12年。仲間と共にじっくりクリエイションができるスタジオ、時間、費用が確保され、上演へと至る過程を繰り返すことで振付家も、新たな作品を共に作り上げるダンサーやスタッフも育つことを、このプロジェクトが示している。本作を振付けた貝川鐵夫、そのほか福田圭吾、宝満直也らがここから巣立ち、それぞれの個性を生かした作品を振付け、発表しているのは頼もしい限りだ。 本作、貝川の『人魚姫』では、まず音楽性を評価したい。王子が海中へ沈んでいくシーンではサティ「ジムノペディ」が幻想性を創出するなど、既存の音楽を使いながら、音楽と振付、演出が見事に融合し、互いに新たな魅力を引き出していた。また、海中の生物たちの動きを模したユーモラスな振付にも遊び心と想像力が発揮された。 ２）8月1日『世界バレエフェスティバル』Aプロ、8月9日『同』Bプロ・・・観客の古典志向変化の兆しと日本人ダンサーの活躍 3年に一度、世界のトップダンサーが集うバレエの祭典。私が見始めた1980年代は、ジョルジュ・ドン、マリシア・ハイデなど圧倒的なオーラを放つダンサーが登場し、1990年代はシルヴィ・ギエムら綺羅星のごときスターが毎公演、トリの「ドン・キホーテ」で競い合い、華やかに盛りあげた。その後、技術競争に沸く観客を満足させる一方で、プログラムはネオクラシックとコンテンポラリー作品が半分近くを占め、世界の潮流を伝えていた。とはいえ、日本の観客の古典志向とダンサー本位は変わらないことが、その反応から透けて見えた。今回驚いたのはダンサーが勢ぞろいするフィナーレで、Aプロではクラシック・チュチュを着た女性ダンサーが二人しかいなかったこと。つまり、クラシック・チュチュが定番衣装の古典作品ではなく、ネオクラシックからコンテンポラリーまでの作品が大半を占めたのだ。しかもチュチュを着た一人で、トリの「ドン・キホーテ」を踊ったマリアネラ・ヌニェスは、技術の誇示より間合いと仕草で、独自の音楽性と作品の理解を表現していた。ダイナミックな跳躍や回転に感嘆するのもバレエの楽しみだが、それだけではない表現の幅広さを伝えてきた主催者のプログラム構成を、日本の観客も味わえるようになったことの反映だろう。Bプロでは古典...
