Da qualche anno, in Italia e nel mondo, si sta provando a fare qualche passo indietro in campo ostetrico. Non in senso negativo ma in positivo. L'esaltazione per le nuove tecnologie, il progresso, l'entusiasmo per un evento che mieteva molte vittime in passato ma che stava diventando "routine" si è poi trasformato in eccessiva medicalizzazione, in stress inutile e spesso in malattia. Il parto è un evento fisiologico, non rischioso, questo è un punto fermo e che non bisogna mai dimenticare. Ovviamente, come per qualsiasi attività umana, c'è sempre l'imprevisto, qualcosa che non va come dovrebbe ed allora è giusto e corretto cercare dei rimedi: la chirurgia è oggi efficace, esistono i farmaci e le attrezzature, usiamole se servono ma non bisogna eccedere.
